Mélange pour Guérison

“Guérison” is the French word for “healing.”  As such, the painting was aptly named, for it was designed specifically for public installation within a hospital facility setting.  A quasi-commissioned piece (i.e., designed-to-suit, but offered by the artist for donation), the elements of this canvas were composed, not only to coordinate with the existing interior design palette, but also to evoke a calming ethos, as is illustrated by its overarching use of creams and earth tone hues to settle the spirit of the sick and injured, while heavy, recurrent and somewhat erratic “brush” strokes (putty knife strokes, in actuality) are interspersed with the energy and vibrancy of bright blues and greens, fostering renewed vigor and energy, which are integral to the restoration of good health.

Mélange pour Guérison was installed at Cape Fear Valley Health System’s Hoke Hospital campus in Hoke County, North Carolina, in April 2015. The artist welcomes similar opportunities for commissioned work in commercial, professional, or institutional settings or for private collections.
