"Mélange" means mixture or blend; as such, this series was aptly named.  In this contemporary abstract collection, BWPryor attempts to share the wonder and excitement of melding variations of the same hue to inspire compositions that evoke movement, energy -- and surprise!  Her heavy use of the "impasto" technique (layering paint thickly) dominates each composition, creating an almost sculptural quality to each painting.  Her technique for loading paint onto the palette knife creates what she refers to as "intentional surprise," for her carefully selected colors intermingle capriciously, impulsively, and unpredictably, culminating in a pleasing, visual effect.
