Mélange Imprévu

This “mélange” of creams and charcoals, with hints of indigo, began first as a study of the interplay of light versus dark, focal point versus periphery.  However, the artist’s impulsive, unplanned addition of canary yellow highlights added a vibrancy to the composition that was unforeseen at the start, and proved fortuitous for its completion – hence, the name, “imprévu,” which, in French, means unexpected or unplanned.  The artist’s heavy application of paint imparts a tactile, almost sculptural quality to the painting, engaging the viewer in a three-dimensional visual experience.  Let the energy and vibrancy of this piece grace your existing décor.  Contemporary or traditional, it is sure to be a perfect fit!
