Mélange en Rouge

 

Mélange en Rouge sets ablaze a wide spectrum of firey crimson hues, infusing the canvas with energy and vitality.  No two areas of this work are the same, due to the varied shades of red loaded onto putty knife with each stroke. The artist’s signature technique for this series -- the exceedingly thick application of paint known as "impasto" -- creates a sculptural quality that brings three-dimensional interest and fortuitous variation to the canvas.
